Style Memo RSS

Independent Designers. Emerging Trends. Essentially we're the pencil toting, note-takers of fashion; memo pads in hand, we follow the independent runways and young designers as they show their collections. We scour fashion trends, find the best and brightest and doll 'em out to ya. Our interviews get you inside the heads of fashion-mavens, trend-setters and designers; plus we go behind the scenes at the shows offering first dibs on who to watch and what you'll want to get your hands on. With our monthly video installments, we'll take you around to visit boutiques and help you put together outfits that you can run out and own tonight before dinner. We'll show case some of the sleekest designs from a bevy of talented up and coming designers. Whether you're a total fashion-head and love to be in the know about the latest trends and newest designer darlings, or you're a classical-beauty kind of gal who just wants a few ideas for putting together something fun for a Saturday night out, we've got you covered. -Kari Check out our video installments:

Midwest Satorialist and Then Some

We’re always on the lookout for cool new fashion websites, blogs and videos; lately we’ve been feasting on a delicious, uninhibited, down-to-earth and genuine site called www.midwasteland.com

Midwasteland reports on events, fashion, cool boutiques and trends in the Midwest with atypical panache and a great sense of humor that makes looking at hipster-doofuses sooooo much more fun.

The site is run by native Chicagoan and stylist Monica Dimperio. She’s a rare purveyor of individual style in a world of homogeneity, a straight shooter and not one to be afraid to call a spade a spade. Monica is like the girlfriend you love to go out with who’s damn witty and has a fantastic satorical comeback for everything thrown her way. Plus she’s got a great events calendar that lists the coolest fashion going-ons in the Midwest.

And as if you needed another reason to bookmark Midwasteland as one of your new favorites in your computer, she’ll soon be selling some of the Midwest’s best up-and-coming designers in the site’s online boutique. With Monica’s rad taste, you’ll be savoring hot new designer duds before they hit the big time and everyone else starts to catch on to what you’ve long known: the Midwest really does have style.

Thanks, Monica!
